Hurricane Riders

02 May

I just got onto these nutjobs and now I totally aspire to be one. The Hurricane Riders claim to be “committed to representing Ocean Kayaking in a safe and exciting manner”. Yeah right! Go an have a look at the insane things they do. The Oz kayaking community would be appalled at their treatment of their craft and of the crazy stunts they pull. Of course, this makes them all the more attractive.

There’s far too much emphasis in Australia on going on long trips in a kayak. There should be more emphasis on adrenaline fueled kayaking insanity for which my new Impex Assateague is perfectly suited. Hurricane Riders, I salute you.

Nice one Brad. Love it! You certainly have the right boat for it now, but can you bare the wear and tear on that pristine Gelcote ? 🙂

LOL. The first trip out in the Assateague I ground it on the gravel in the water which totally freaked me out. I have to get used to NOT skull dragging the boat over everything. I was paddling with Graeme and we stupidly paddled into 2 inches of Lake Macquarie water. I was scanning carefully for every oyster in the area. Maybe I’m just meant for plastic. But GOD I LOVE THE ASSATEAGUE!!!!!!!

David, I understand that YOU might feel that the Hurricane Riders are idiots.
However real sea kayakers are not just confined to sheltered waters and mild days.
Once you have skills it’s only natural to push your limits.
The stuff that you see the Hurricane Riders do is way safer than other sports. Ever looked at the “stupid” injuries that occur on a field when an egg shaped ball is involved? don’t get me started on motorized sports… think about it.
Don’t judge others by your own limitations.

    Hey guys,

I love the fact that our kayaking videos are sparking such diverse discussions 🙂 If you thought our paddling was exciting before, just wait for the new video that’s coming out!

Best regards to all paddlers 🙂
